Solar Installation Brookvale Homeowners and Businesses Can Trust

Power & Solar Group is a Northern Beaches based, fully licensed and SAA accredited solar company servicing Brookvale and the surrounding suburbs, installing solar, battery storage and EV chargers with our own in-house licensed electricians, no subcontractors. Brookvale sits centrally in our patch, between Dee Why, Freshwater and Manly Vale, and we work across the suburb's mix of homes near Brookvale Oval and warehouses in the local industrial estates.

What We Help With

Power & Solar Group helps Brookvale homeowners and business owners cut power bills with professionally installed solar, battery and EV charging systems. We solve two problems local property owners raise constantly: power bills climbing on Sydney's roughly 33 to 36 cents per kWh grid rate, and roofs generating no value at all. Because Brookvale is the Northern Beaches' main commercial and industrial hub alongside its pockets of older homes, we quote everything from a straightforward 6.6kW residential system through to three-phase commercial solar for a warehouse near Warringah Mall. We also help with:

  • Cutting daytime costs for businesses running equipment, coolrooms or machinery during business hours
  • Battery backup so homes and businesses keep essential power during a blackout
  • EV charger installation for households and fleets moving to electric vehicles
  • Meter alterations and mains connection work as part of a solar upgrade
  • Assessing older Brookvale roofs for load capacity and shading before we quote

What We Do

Our Services

We design and install solar panels sized to your Northern Beaches roof and household usage, using marine-grade mounting hardware built to handle salt air, storms and coastal humidity.

We install hybrid inverter battery systems that store your daytime solar for evening use, cut reliance on expensive grid power, and keep essential circuits running through blackouts and coastal storms.

We fit string inverters, power optimisers or microinverters based on your roof's shading, always rated for marine environments, so your Northern Beaches system performs reliably well for decades to come.

We design commercial solar systems from 30kW to 100kW-plus for Northern Beaches retail, hospitality, office and warehouse sites, where peak demand lines up with peak solar production for faster payback.

We install solar-integrated EV chargers that divert your surplus solar power straight into your car instead of exporting it to the grid, making the most of every kilowatt you generate.

Our in-house, NECA-accredited Level 2 electricians handle meter alterations, mains connections and service line work, so your solar installation never waits on a second contractor on the Northern Beaches.

Introducing Kieran Garside, Founder

Kieran Garside is the founder and director of Power & Solar Group, a Northern Beaches local with over ten years designing and installing solar systems. He started out studying marine biology before swapping that degree for a trade career in electrical and solar work, a switch that became a genuine specialism in coastal solar installation, which matters in a salt-air environment like the Northern Beaches.

Kieran personally holds Level 2 ASP accreditation through NECA Training and Apprenticeships, an Electrician Trade Licence with NSW Fair Trading issued in 2014, and Solar Design and Installation accreditation through the Solar Accreditation Australia. He is also Vice President of BNI 10X, a Belrose based business networking group, keeping him connected to trades and business owners across the region, including operators in Brookvale's industrial estates. Kieran still does site visits himself, so when we quote a job in Brookvale, there is a real chance the founder is walking your roof.

Brookvale Local Snapshot

Brookvale is the Northern Beaches' commercial and industrial heart, and Power & Solar Group designs around that reality every week, since a warehouse or car dealership off Old Pittwater Road needs a very different system to an apartment near Brookvale Oval.

  • Population: 3,389 residents (2021 Census), one of the smallest resident populations on the peninsula, though the suburb's daytime population swells well beyond that through its warehouses, showrooms and offices.
  • Housing mix: 63.5% flats or apartments, 18.3% separate houses, 16.2% semi-detached or townhouses, among the most unit-dominated housing profiles on the Northern Beaches.
  • Rebate zone: STC Zone 3, the same as greater Sydney, covering postcodes 2084 to 2108.
  • Sun exposure: peak sun hours sit close to the 4.6-hour Northern Beaches average, and Brookvale's large, flat industrial and warehouse rooftops, many with unobstructed north-facing aspect, are some of the best-performing commercial solar sites on the peninsula.
  • Solar uptake: close to 28 percent of houses across the peninsula now have solar, up from 21 percent in early 2023, and Brookvale's 2100 postcode has recorded more than 2,500 small-scale solar installations since 2001, spanning homes, offices and the suburb's many commercial rooftops.
  • Council target: 50 percent uptake on suitable roofs region-wide by 2030.

Understanding Solar Energy in Brookvale

Solar panels convert sunlight into usable electricity for your home or business, and in Brookvale the fundamentals stay the same, it is the roof stock that shapes the detail. Between the large flat roofs of the suburb's warehouses and showrooms and the smaller, shared roofs of its apartment blocks, a lot of our work here looks very different from a typical Northern Beaches house job.

  • Roof orientation: a north-facing 15 to 30 degree tilt roof still performs best on a house or townhouse, while Brookvale's large flat industrial and warehouse roofs, common around the older post-war industrial estate, can often carry a bigger system laid out for maximum sun exposure across the whole roof.
  • Shaded roofs: in Brookvale's tighter unit blocks near Warringah Mall and Brookvale Oval, where a neighbouring building can throw shadow across part of a roof, the answer is usually that solar still works, provided the system uses microinverters or optimisers rather than a basic string inverter.
  • Site assessment: we run a pathfinder shading analysis on every site visit and check roof structure and load capacity as standard, and on Brookvale's older 1960s and 70s warehouse buildings, that includes checking roof sheeting condition before any mounting work goes ahead.

Brookvale Solar Buying Tips

Power & Solar Group recommends asking any installer three things before you sign:

1

Are they Solar Accreditation Australia accredited?

2

Do they use in-house Level 2 electricians or subcontractors?

3

Can they size and certify a system correctly for a three-phase commercial supply, not just a standard single-phase home?

The biggest mistake we see Brookvale customers make is buying on price per watt alone without checking who is doing the accredited electrical work. The second biggest mistake depends on the property: for the suburb's many apartments and townhouses, it's not checking strata or body corporate approval before ordering equipment, and for its older warehouses and industrial buildings, it's not having the roof sheeting and structure properly assessed before signing.

Get a plain-English itemised quote rather than a bundled figure, and ask about warranty length.

Check the system is sized against your actual bills rather than a rough estimate of roof area, we review your last twelve months of bills as standard on every Brookvale quote.

If you're in a strata building near Warringah Mall or Brookvale Oval, ask early about shared roof access and metering, since this is where residential quotes most often stall.

If you're a business owner, ask whether your building's existing switchboard and three-phase supply can support the system size you actually need, older Brookvale industrial units sometimes need an upgrade first.

Solar Cost Guide for Brookvale

Solar installation cost in Brookvale depends on system size, and because the suburb is home to so much of the Northern Beaches' warehousing, showroom and office space, we quote a wider range of commercial systems here than in most other suburbs, alongside the smaller residential systems that suit Brookvale's many apartments. Power & Solar Group gives every customer an itemised quote so there are no surprises after the STC rebate is applied.

3-5kW system

$4,500 to $6,000-plus after rebate, our most common size for a Brookvale unit or smaller household.

6.6kW system

$5,200 to $7,500-plus after rebate, the standard choice for a freestanding house, producing 25 to 28kWh a day, saving $1,700 to $2,300 a year, payback 3 to 4 years.

8-10kW system

$7,500 to $10,000-plus after rebate, producing 30 to 40kWh a day, saving $2,300 to $3,100 a year, payback 4 to 5 years.

13kW+ system

$10,000 to $12,000-plus after rebate, producing 50kWh a day or more, saving $3,300 to $4,500 a year, payback 5 to 6 years.

Adding a battery

$8,000 to $22,000-plus on top of system cost, combined payback of 6 to 10 years.

Commercial

30kW to 100kW-plus with three-phase inverters, bulk hardware pricing, accelerated depreciation eligible, our largest and most common commercial category here given Brookvale's warehouses, car dealerships and showrooms.

These figures already account for the STC rebate, which typically cuts $1,700 to $4,000 off a 6.6kW system upfront.

Designed for Brookvale

Solar Solutions for Brookvale Properties

Different property types across the Northern Beaches need different solar solutions, and Brookvale is unusual in having a genuine mix of residential and commercial customers packed into one suburb, from apartments near Brookvale Oval to the warehouses, car dealerships and showrooms that make up the suburb's industrial estate.

Strata and Unit Blocks

With 63.5 per cent of local dwellings recorded as flats or units, Power & Solar Group spends real time here on shared roof space, body corporate approval and individual metering, recommending microinverter or optimiser systems so shading between adjacent buildings does not drag down output.

Warehouses, Showrooms & Offices

Brookvale's industrial and commercial rooftops, running from car dealerships and vehicle servicing operators to printing, signage and warehousing businesses, are well suited to large flat-roof commercial arrays from 30kW up to 100kW-plus with three-phase inverters.

Established Houses & Townhouses

For the suburb's smaller share of freestanding homes, we design rooftop solar, battery and hybrid systems for blackout backup, and EV charger installation tied into existing solar generation.

Bigger Homes, Bigger Systems

Larger homes with bigger bills get 8 to 10kW or 13kW-plus systems, paired with a battery where blackout protection or time-of-day savings make the payback worthwhile.

Smart Home & Business Energy Management

Available for automating how solar, battery and grid power work together, particularly useful for businesses running equipment or refrigeration through the day.

Brookvale Rebates and Incentives

Two main incentives reduce the cost of solar in Brookvale right now, and Power & Solar Group applies both on your behalf.

STC rebate: a one-off upfront discount applied at purchase, typically cutting $1,700 to $4,000 off a standard 6.6kW system. Brookvale's 2100 postcode sits within STC Zone 3, the same zone as greater Sydney. The scheme steps down every 1 January and ends on 1 January 2031, so the rebate is worth more the sooner you install, whether that is on a Brookvale apartment, house or commercial rooftop.

Feed-in tariff: an ongoing per-kWh credit paid for exported solar power at 4.8 to 7.3 cents per kWh, or up to around 20 cents on some off-peak plans.

Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program: currently cuts battery costs by about a third for residential customers.

Accelerated depreciation: a particularly relevant incentive for Brookvale's many business owners installing commercial solar on warehouses, showrooms and offices.

We factor all of this into every quote so the price you see is the price you pay.

FAQs about Solar Installation in Brookvale

  • How much does solar installation cost in Brookvale and the Northern Beaches?

Power & Solar Group prices most residential solar-only installs at $4,500 to $12,000 plus after the STC rebate, with a 6.6kW system, the most common size, typically $5,200 to $7,500 plus. Battery storage takes the total to $8,000 to $22,000 plus. We give every Brookvale customer a plain-English itemised quote before work starts.

  • Do I need council approval for solar in Brookvale?

Most residential solar systems under 10kW do not need a council DA under NSW SEPP provisions. Heritage properties, strata buildings and some larger commercial installations can require one, and Power & Solar Group checks this during the initial site visit.

  • My roof does not face north. Will solar still work?

Yes. North-facing roofs pitched 15 to 30 degrees perform best, but east-west facing roofs, common across Brookvale, still produce 80 to 90 percent of that output. We use angled mounting frames on flat roofs and microinverters or optimisers on shaded roofs to maximise generation regardless of orientation.

  • How much can I save with solar in Brookvale?

Most Northern Beaches households save $1,400 to $2,300 a year with a typical solar system, with payback in 3 to 5 years. Businesses in Brookvale's industrial and retail precincts often see stronger returns, because their heaviest power use during the day lines up closely with solar production.

  • How do I find the best solar installer near Brookvale?

Look for a fully licensed, insured, SAA accredited installer using marine-grade, coastal-rated hardware as standard, with no subcontracted Level 2 work. Power & Solar Group meets all of that, and founder Kieran Garside personally conducts many site visits himself.

  • What is the difference between STCs and the feed-in tariff?

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are a one-off upfront rebate, cutting $1,700 to $4,000 off a typical 6.6kW system at installation, stepping down every 1 January until the scheme ends on 1 January 2031. The feed-in tariff is an ongoing per-kWh credit of roughly 4.8 to 7.3 cents, up to around 20 cents off-peak, for solar you export to the grid, paying you over the life of the system rather than a single upfront discount.
